Foley's pupils win CLEAPSS Primary Science and Technology 2017 Marble Keep-y-Uppy Competition.

Teams from all over the UK and abroad competed to design and build a marble run, a maximum 1m tall, to keep a glass marble in motion for the longest time possible.

Winners for YR 5/6 group: Elisa Galatariotis and Tania Hamboulla

Overall winners of the competition: Daniel Rotaru and Markos Antoniades, who achieved a very creative, innovative and compact structure with 2 elevators and used robotics for the marble run to achieve 3 minutes of total run. (See a video of the run in video section of the website!)

The winners will receive trophies, certificates and goody bags from CLEAPSS, as well as science equipment and resources for the school - many congratulations to Elisa, Tania, Daniel and Markos, as well as Mrs Mirvat and Mrs Gjinoshi who encouraged and supported them!

Rules:
The marble run must be 1m tall or less. 
The marble must be 13-16 mm in diameter.
The marble must not stop for the entirety of the run.

Judging criteria:
design, elegance and innovation
compactness of the structure
time taken for the marble to complete the run
